Company information

St. Michael is an island of calm, an enclave of stillness amidst the hustle and bustle that tends to reign on the left bank of the Danube between April and October each year. Right in the centre of the village and leaning against the Michaelerberg, one can find the impressive old stone building of the Huber family, who purchased the house in 1795. However, its thick, solid stonewalls are much older than that – the foundations were laid in the early Middle Ages. Today, the building houses Gerhard and Martina Huber’s small bed and breakfast: guests can choose between four guest rooms, each of which offers beautiful views of the Danube. In the courtyard of the building, visitors can enjoy the family’s wines.   The family owns one and a half hectares, amongst them the Harzenleithen and the Kirchweg terraces. Although they sell most of their grapes to the co-operatives, they also vinify a Veltliner Steinfeder, which is characterised by freshness, vivacity, pepper and fruity notes, as well as a Veltliner Federspiel, which combines elegance and lusciousness with fine stone-fruit aromas and an intense spiciness. The couple knows every single one of their vines and cultivate them as sustainable and natural as possible. Every year, a growing number of regular customers pay tribute to their efforts.
